Beyond the absolute pleasure of seeing the Oakland-born garage doo-wop band Shannon of the Clams, this fun shebang is taking place at the Garibaldina Society, an Italian supper club with a dance floor that draws comparisons to the hotel from “The Shining” — if it were a private mafia hangout in the 1980s. Shannon’s former bandmate in Hunx and His Punx, the dynamic frontman Seth Bogart opens the show along with the very psychedelic and spooky Secret Stare.

Bloc Party Performs ‘Silent Alarm’

Indie rock in 2005 was defined by bands like Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand and the Arctic Monkeys. It was rock aimed at the dance floor with a heavy emphasis on rhythm. To commemorate the almost 15-year anniversary of the band’s debut album, “Silent Alarm,” Bloc Party put together a short tour of the U.S. this fall, performing the album in full. Take a nostalgic dive into the punchy party rock of “Banquet” or the wistful wandering of “So Here We Are” and reminisce on what Coachella was like in the early ’00s.

Congress Volume VI Dance Showcase

Congress is a salon-style collective showcase of cross-genre dance artists in an intimate environment, that environment being choreographer Ryan Heffington’s uber-hip dance studio, The Sweat Spot. Hosted by Denna Thomsen and Zak Ryan Schlegel, the seventh edition of this fun and eclectic evening presents original works by eight local artists: Jasmine Albuquerque, Dana Foglia Dance, Matthew “ET” Gibbs, Jillian Schmitz, Erica Sobol and the Lobos Art Collective, She Street, Josie Walsh and Ry X.

Sego in Surround Sound

Named after a hashtag some internet troll bestowed upon the band, Sego’s latest album, “Sego Sucks,” tackles the hang-ups that come with existential survival in the modern world. They’ve done this through herky-jerky guitar-driven pop songs that are catchy dismissals of all things causing dread to lyricist Spencer Petersen.
For this show, the four-piece band has devised a “surround sound” experience, with each member playing on a separate stage surrounding the audience. AM pop-inspired local band Small Forward and friends from Utah Pinguin Mofex open the show.

Vibration Group, a Sci-Fi Opera by Anna Luisa Petrisko

This hybrid installation experience created by musician/artist Anna Luisa Petrisko revolves around a displaced migrant group aboard a spaceship commune traversing fractured worlds as they long for their forsaken Earth. Attendees can take a sensory bath in a Virtual Reality Spa designed by Tonia B****** and Ana Carolina Estarita Guerrero; examine the Vibration Group’s archives via touchscreen computers; and participate in ceremonial toasts led by artist Sarah Gail. The event culminates in Group Therapy, an opera performance featuring all members of the Vibration Group and includes Soprano/sound artist Micaela Tobin of White Boy Scream.
