As a renewed Safer at Home order looms over Los Angeles County, here’s a virtual event you can safely enjoy from the comfort of your home right alongside your Thanksgiving leftovers, whatever those may be. On Nov. 28, L.A. native Flying Lotus and his label Brainfeeder Records will present a one-night livestream from Tokyo, L.A. and London.

Steven Ellison, better known as Flying Lotus, is an L.A. musician with six albums under his belt, as well as some production work for Adult Swim. He’s worked with a diverse roster of musicians and filmmakers, including David Lynch, Kendrick Lamar, Herbie Hancock, Thom Yorke and Erykah Badu. Ellison was also just nominated for a producer of the year Grammy, per today’s announcement.

The livestream, presented through Mixcloud Live, will feature performances from Flying Lotus, as well as Brainfeeder artists Teebs, Brandon Coleman and Salami Rose Joe Louis. Flying Lotus will also work with Timeboy and Strangeloop, who helped develop his LAYER3 and Hypercube visual show, to create a virtual spectacle that, per a press release, will traverse “the cosmos all the way to the astral plane, touching upon places out of reach to the modern, humble human.” Cool. I think we could all use a little off-world vacation right about now.

Broadcast 1 from Tokyo streams at 4 a.m. PST, Broadcast 2 from London streams at 1 p.m. PST, and Broadcast 3 streams from L.A. at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $13 and available here.

Mixcloud has been offering several ticketed livestreams throughout the pandemic for those of us who miss live music, but you can also use the platform to discover new music, follow favorite artists or stream your own stuff.
