Artistic Director Benjamin Millepied’s “I fall, I flow, I melt” nears the end of its 10-day run at the L.A. Dance Project’s newly renovated DTLA performance space. Presented in-the-round, the choreography was inspired by Millepied’s deep dive into Bach’s most infamous compositions. Jungle Fire, L.A.’s very own 10-piece “tropi-funk” band, is hosting a record release party for their most recent self-titled album at Boyle Heights’ most historic ballroom turned music venue. “Jungle Fire,” the band’s third studio album, combines elements of Afro-Cuban and West African soul and funk with ’70s American breakbeat-centric funk to deliver lively, tight instrumental jams that could soundtrack an action scene as well as burn up a dance floor. Brainstory opens the show.

The Memories
Sunday, March 1, 2020 / 9 p.m. to midnight / Gold-Diggers
The Memories describe themselves as “music for relaxation and romance.” And they very much embody that concept if your idea of romance is eating pizza off the belly of a man who goes by the nickname “Free Weed.” Real name Ricky Gage, The Memories leader is full of charisma; and the songs are laidback casual punk ditties about love, drugs and finding purpose, sometimes while on drugs and in love at the same. The lineup includes Joel Jerome’s Babies On Acid, The Squids and DJ Colleen Green.
