Adult Film Star Ron Jeremy Charged with 20 Additional Counts of Sexual Assault

Last updated:

Ron Jeremy has been charged with another 20 counts of sexual assault and groping. That now makes for 28 criminal counts against the 68-year-old adult film star, including one that involves a 15-year-old girl.

According to the L.A. County district attorney’s office, the additional counts involve 13 people and date back to 2004. They include six counts of sexual battery by restraint, five counts of forcible rape, three counts of forcible oral copulation, two counts of forcible penetration by a foreign object and one count each of sodomy, assault with intent to commit rape, penetration by a foreign object on an unconscious sleeping victim and lewd conduct with a 15-year-old girl.

This is on top of charges Jeremy received in June, which included three counts each of forcible rape and forcible penetration by a foreign object and one count each of forcible oral copulation and sexual battery.

Jeremy is accused of assaulting the teenage girl at a party in Santa Clarita in 2004. He’s also accused of sexually assaulting a 21-year-old woman in Hollywood on January 1, 2020. That’s the most recent charge, though the D.A.’s office says the accusations span 16 years.

These kinds of allegations concerning Jeremy aren’t new. Performer Ginger Banks uploaded a compilation of accusations against Jeremy on YouTube in June 2017. Rolling Stone followed up on those allegations in November 2017, referencing a 2003 radio program in which adult entertainer Ginger Lynn said Jeremy raped her in 1983.

Following Jeremy’s arrest, Banks uploaded a video in which she criticized commenters who said that women should expect to be harassed by Jeremy and that sex workers should expect to be harassed or assaulted due to their profession. “Consent still applies to sex workers,” Banks said.

Former adult film actress Lianne Young told the L.A. Times that Jeremy assaulted her at an industry party at the House of Blues in West Hollywood. Other people were around, she said, but no one batted an eye. And when she told others in the industry about the assault, they would say, “That’s Ron.” Another accuser, adult performer Elle Hell, said she didn’t speak out after Jeremy attacked her in 2014 because of his fame in the adult industry.

“You have everyday citizens who are already excusing and validating his sexual assaults because we work in an industry where we are ‘whores,’” Hell said.
